Anyone silly enough to try to break the law in Kumbia on Saturday night would have been in for a huge shock … there were enough superheroes in town to send the meanest villain quickly off to jail.

Kumbia Memorial Hall was full of Batmen, Supermen, Catwomen and Ironmen, as well as a smattering of evil-doers such as Darth Vader and Hannibal Lector, for the 23rd annual Kumbia Brain Drain.

This year’s theme of “Heroes and Villains” also attracted anti-heroes such as Wolverine, complete with retractable claws, and a few gods, including Thor.

The trivia night is a major fundraiser for the Kumbia State School P&C and attracts patrons from the Darling Downs and Brisbane as well as from all over the South Burnett.

More than 200 people packed the hall, competing for prizes for each round of trivia as well as for their costumes.
