Police are investigating whether fatigue played a role in the fatal car crash that occurred on the Bunya Highway near Kingaroy on Sunday morning.<\/p>\n

Officer-in-charge of Kingaroy Police, Senior Sergeant Duane Frank, said the crash occurred about 200m north of the intersection with Reedy Creek Road.<\/p>\n

He said the Subaru Forester was heading towards Kingaroy when it crossed the oncoming lane, left the road and hit two trees.<\/p>\n

The 21-year-old driver is believed to have been on his way from NSW to Hervey Bay.<\/p>\n

He was killed on impact.<\/p>\n

Snr Sgt Frank said the cause of the crash was still being investigated but fatigue may have been a factor.<\/p>\n

The vehicle would also be examined for any mechanical issues.<\/p>\n

Police will prepare a report for the Coroner.<\/p>\n

There have been 159 fatalities so far this year on Queensland roads, including 15 in August.<\/p>\n
