Kingaroy artist Jennifer Heibloem … keen to share her artistic skills with local budding artists<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Kingaroy artist Jennifer Heibloem is launching a great new opportunity for budding South Burnett artists on Saturday morning … but it also marks the start of an exciting new journey for her.<\/p>\n

Jenn will be setting up in the CWA Hall in Kingaroy Street, Kingaroy, at 10:00am, for the first introductory session of new walk-in art lessons for adults and children.<\/p>\n

Jenn is a professional artist and graphic designer, and also a former high school art teacher and photographer.<\/p>\n

She loves art and design, and has worked in artistic pursuits for most of her life.<\/p>\n

However, in recent years her health has taken a hit. After caring for elderly parents, she sank into depression … which is where JobMatch stepped in to help.<\/p>\n

Jenn can’t speak highly enough of the team there, and especially Vikki O’Brien, her case worker.<\/p>\n

“They’re possibly the best service in the South Burnett,” she enthuses.<\/p>\n

“Over the time I have been with them, my personal evolution has improved from severe depression to now just occasional bouts.<\/p>\n

“The quality and professionalism from them is really terrific. They’re really, really good.”<\/p>\n

With the encouragement of JobMatch, Jenn picked up a paint brush again and launched Jennuen Creations.<\/strong><\/p>\n

She began selling her artworks via the internet – she built her own website – and started gathering together a network of outlets to market her limited edition prints and original pieces.<\/p>\n

Now she has taken the next step, and decided to offer art classes to the public, for adults and children, in Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

She plans to run them every Saturday morning at the CWA Hall from now until Christmas.<\/p>\n

Each session will be $35 for adults ($28 seniors \/ pensioners; $25 children under 10) except the first introductory session this Saturday (August 27) which is $25.<\/p>\n

She also will offer discounts for anyone who books for the entire 10-week course.<\/p>\n

Topics to be covered include painting, drawing, design and composition, printing, mixed media and contemporary craft.<\/strong><\/p>\n

People can bring along their own materials, or buy a complete kit for $10.<\/p>\n

Not only has Jen’s depression improved in recent years, but so has her physical health.<\/p>\n

She won a blender in a competition and started making smoothies.<\/p>\n

“I lost 20 kilos and that helped me to start moving again,” she said.<\/p>\n

Friends asked her for her recipes, so she put her artistic skills to work again and started designing recipe cards (they’re available on her website).<\/p>\n

It’s been a long journey for Jenn back into the workforce but she is now looking forward to painting and creating “into my old age”.<\/p>\n

Some of Jenn’s artworks will be featured in the upcoming disAbility Art Show at Kingaroy Art Gallery from November 1-30, or you can pop in an take a look on Saturday mornings.<\/p>\n
