Attendance numbers may have been slightly down at this year’s South Burnett Digital Interclub judging but entry numbers almost doubled.<\/p>\n

The Digital Interclub aims to find the best digital photographs produced in the region over the previous 12 months.<\/p>\n

This year it was waged between the Blackbutt, Nanango and Kingaroy photographic clubs, and all three walked away with at least one category winner.<\/p>\n

To take part in the competition, club members were invited to submit their best photos in any of the competition’s six categories (Nature, People, Humour, Photojournalism, Monochrome and Spot Of Colour).<\/p>\n

The photographs were then judged and graded by an outside expert.<\/p>\n

This year’s judge was Wendy Geddes AFIAP AAPS, from the Photographic Society of Queensland.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The host club was Nanango.<\/p>\n

The judging and awards had originally been planned to be held at St Patrick’s School on Sunday afternoon.<\/p>\n

But when it turned out the building was unavailable, the ceremony was moved a little further up Alfred Street to Ringsfield House’s school building, which had a screen that could be used to project the images.<\/p>\n

Wendy said although she had only been judging for a short while, she had seen camera club photographs from Brisbane to Bundaberg and was very impressed with the standard of photography she saw in the South Burnett.<\/p>\n

“The images you are all shooting are really quite amazing,” Wendy told the audience.<\/p>\n

“Your work is some of the best I’ve seen, and I’d certainly encourage you to enter bigger competitions on the Gold Coast and in Brisbane, because your work is equal to their standards.”<\/p>\n

Wendy then discussed the finalists in each category, displaying each image; critiquing it; and then awarding points up to a perfect score of 15.<\/p>\n

When each category had been judged, the category winner was announced; and after all categories had been awarded, Nancy Stronge from the Kingaroy Photographic Club was awarded Grand Champion of this year’s competition for her monochrome study of a cow.<\/p>\n

The camera clubs were then awarded first, second and third places based on the number of points their members’ entries accumulated.<\/p>\n

This year, the Kingaroy Photographic Club came third with 416 points, followed closely by the Blackbutt Camera Club in second place with 423 points and then Nanango, who led the field with 466 points.<\/p>\n

The South Burnett’s next major photographic competition will be the Cliff Krebbs Memorial South Burnett Interclub Photography Competition, which is for photographic prints.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Nanango will also be the host for this year’s Krebbs Memorial, which will be held at St Patrick’s School on Sunday, October 30.<\/p>\n
