Detectives are reviewing CCTV footage of an attempted armed robbery at Ryke Fuel in Kingaroy on Tuesday night.<\/p>\n

Officer-in-charge of Kingaroy Police, Senior Sergeant Duane Frank, said police were pursuing a number of lines of inquiry.<\/p>\n

He said two men entered the service station just after 9:00pm and challenged the employee on duty.<\/p>\n

Snr Sgt Frank said one of the men produced a tomahawk and brandished it.<\/p>\n

“Words were exchanged between the employee and the offenders,” Snr Sgt Frank said.<\/p>\n

The would-be robbers then ran off empty-handed.<\/p>\n

“There was no physical confrontation and nothing was stolen,” Snr Sgt Frank said.<\/p>\n

Kingaroy detectives are investigating an attempted hold-up at a Kingaroy service station on Tuesday night.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It is the third time this year the United Petroleum (Ryke Fuel) service station in Youngman Street has been targeted, however this time the would-be thieves did not escape with any cash.<\/p>\n

The station immediately went into lockdown about 9:30pm, with customers turned away while police secured the premises.<\/p>\n

The owners of the business installed new security arrangements after the earlier hold-ups, which occurred on April 7 and April 15.<\/p>\n

At the time, police were \u201calmost convinced\u201d it was the same man who robbed the station twice in just over a week.<\/p>\n

On the first occasion the offender was armed with a large machete and the second time with a tyre lever.<\/p>\n
