An 85-year-old Brooklands man was flown to Brisbane by the RACQ LifeFlight helicopter after a single vehicle crash on the D’Aguilar Highway at Hodgeleigh on Friday morning,<\/p>\n

The man was the sole occupant of a Toyota Hilux dualcab which left the road, hit a tree and rolled down an embankment about 10:45am.<\/p>\n

The vehicle was travelling towards Kingaroy when the incident occurred.<\/p>\n

Officer-in-charge of Kingaroy Police, Senior Sergeant Duane Frank, said the man had become trapped inside the vehicle and had to be freed by a QFES team.<\/p>\n

Traffic was blocked in both directions on the highway while the man was freed and transferred to the waiting helicopter.<\/p>\n

Police investigations into the cause of the crash are continuing but an RACQ LifeFlight spokesperson said the driver may have swerved to avoid a kangaroo.<\/p>\n

He is believed to have suffered rib and leg injuries in the crash and was flown to the PA Hospital in a serious but stable condition.<\/p>\n
