<\/a>July 27, 2016<\/strong><\/p>\n Membership of the Nanango Stamp Club has boomed this year thanks to the club’s South Burnett Schools Stamp Education Program.<\/p>\n Stamp club president Graham Coombe said there are now 70 school children involved in school-based stamp groups throughout the region.<\/p>\n “And we haven’t even gone to all the schools yet,” he said.<\/p>\n The Stamp Club launched its South Burnett Schools Stamp Education Program in February, and soon had two schools put up their hands to take part.<\/p>\n A further six schools introduced the program in Term 2, and the club are hopeful more schools will come aboard as the new school term gets underway.<\/p>\n The program allows teachers to use stamp collecting to foster student interest in geography, history and research by studying and analysing not just stamps, but the subjects they depict.<\/p>\n Students might gather details about birds and animals shown on stamps, for example, or find out about foreign countries that issue them.<\/p>\n Stamp clubs can be established with as few as seven members, so the program is accessible for small schools as well as larger ones.<\/p>\n Any school that would like to discuss the concept is welcome to phone Graham on (07) 4163-1786 to find out more details.<\/p>\n* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n
