The South Burnett drew a lot of favourable attention from Brisbane foodies at this year’s Regional Flavours festival at Brisbane’s South Bank.<\/p>\n

The two-day event drew an estimated crowd of 82,000 this year, according to Brisbane Marketing, despite wet weather on Saturday and less than ideal conditions on Sunday.<\/p>\n

South Burnett chef and regional food ambassador Jason Ford treated visitors to his pork belly salad wrap, a dish he created to show off the region’s produce.<\/p>\n

“We sold 800 wraps – totally sold out – and the overwhelming feedback from festival-goers was that it was the best dish available at Regional Flavours,” Jason told southburnett.com.au<\/strong><\/div>\n

Jason also appeared on stage with celebrity chef Miguel Maestre and 2015 Masterchef runner-up Georgia Barnes to talk about the South Burnett’s foods, as well as hold a Dukkah Down masterclass alongside fellow chef Cameron Matthews.<\/p>\n

This latter event was hosted on the Queensland Taste stage by Anooska Tucker-Evans, the editor of The Courier-Mail’s Queensland Taste liftout.<\/p>\n

The South Burnett was represented by nine stallholders this year including Kingsley Grove Estate, The Peanut Van, Crane Wines, Taste South Burnett, Bunya Red Farm, Chinchilli, Bunya Cheese, Clovely Estate and Ben\u2019s Beef Jerky.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Bernie Cooper, from Crane Wines, said he thought the event was very successful considering the extreme weather that hit Brisbane during this year’s festival.<\/p>\n

He and his wife Judy were particularly surprised by the crowds on Saturday, when it rained heavily.<\/p>\n

“Everyone brought umbrellas and we got soaked when they leaned into our stand for wine tastings,” Bernie said.<\/p>\n

“But it was a lot of fun all the same.”<\/p>\n

The South Burnett’s presence at Regional Flavours was organised by South Burnett Directions who use the festival to promote the region to potential visitors from Brisbane.<\/p>\n
