A South Burnett man suffered critical head injuries, and two other people were also injured, in a collision at Benarkin on Thursday afternoon.<\/p>\n

Emergency services were called to the crash site, on the corner of Old Esk Road and the D’Aguilar Highway, about 3:30pm.<\/p>\n

The seriously injured man, aged in his mid-20s, had to be cut free from the wreckage of one of the vehicles before being flown by RACQ LifeFlight helicopter to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition.<\/p>\n

A LifeFlight spokesperson said the car the man was travelling in was struck at speed when it turned into the path of another vehicle while leaving the highway.<\/p>\n

The front of both vehicles was seriously damaged.<\/p>\n

The helicopter was called to the scene at 3:45pm and landed on the highway to assist the injured man.<\/p>\n

The LifeFlight medical team worked with paramedics to stabilise the man for transport.<\/p>\n

Two other people were taken by road ambulance to Kingaroy Hospital.<\/p>\n

The D’Aguilar Highway was reduced to one lane as emergency crews worked at the scene.<\/p>\n

A police spokesman said the Forensic Crash Unit would be investigating the cause of the incident.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
