Yarraman’s World War I heroes haven’t been forgotten by the wider South Burnett community.<\/p>\n

When the South Burnett Regional Council applied for funding for the “We Will Remember Them” project there was no way that Yarraman would be excluded even if the town is part of the Toowoomba council area.<\/p>\n

The book version of the World War I database “Every Man Remembered\u201d, created by Nanango historians\u00a0Daun Clapperton and Robyn Peterson, was funded via the Federal Government\u2019s Anzac Centenary Grants Program in the three local electorates of Maranoa, Flynn and Wide Bay.<\/p>\n

Daun and Robyn spent hundreds of hours researching the contribution the local area made to the Great War effort, recording names on monuments, searching war records and speaking to relatives.<\/p>\n

Their database forms the core of the book, but added to this now are stories and photographs of individual veterans and information about the war – including veterans from the Yarraman area.<\/p>\n

On Monday morning, SBRC employee Mary Green, from the Nanango Visitor Information Centre, presented copies of the book to students from Yarraman P-9 school (for their library), to the Yarraman Sub-Branch of the RSL, and to the Yarraman Town Library.<\/p>\n

A copy of the book will also be kept at Heritage House.<\/p>\n
