South Burnett health workers have been recognised during NAIDOC Week for their commitment to improving health outcomes for the local Indigenous community.<\/p>\n

Nurse practitioner Andrea Rolfe, from Kingaroy Hospital, received the Darling Downs Hospital and Health Service\u2019s (DDHHS) Recognition of Excellence to Service delivered to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community award.<\/p>\n

Ms Rolfe was recognised for her work with Cherbourg residents with kidney disease, in particular her efforts to\u00a0conduct clinics.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese clinics have revolutionised the provision of health care to this community,” \u00a0DDHHS Director of Renal Services Sree Krishna Venuthurupalli said.<\/p>\n

“They enabled\u00a0clinicians to see these patients early in the disease process, plan their health needs, educate them in advance and facilitate further management.”<\/p>\n

As part of the celebrations, certificates of achievement were also presented to staff from the\u00a0Kingaroy Hospital\u2019s Women\u2019s and Children\u2019s Service.<\/p>\n

The awards were presented at NAIDOC week celebrations held at the Kingaroy Hospital which\u00a0also featured a dance performance by the Kingaroy Sista Girls.<\/p>\n

Due to wet weather, Cherbourg Hospital\u2019s NAIDOC event has been rescheduled to Tuesday, July 26.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
