Blackbutt Hall at the corner of Coulson and Muir Streets will be relocated to Bowman Road and upgraded as part of the deal with Breezeway Developments<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Blackbutt residents will get their first chance next week to see concept drawings of what the Blackbutt Memorial Hall will look like in its new location.<\/p>\n

The South Burnett Regional Council will be holding community information sessions on Monday and Tuesday at the Blackbutt Customer Service Centre in Hart Street.<\/p>\n

Mayor Keith Campbell said the purpose of the sessions would be to update the community on the progress of the Blackbutt supermarket project, which would see the Memorial Hall moved to a new site near Nukku Nook so a modern supermarket can be built on the corner block the hall presently occupies.<\/p>\n

The Mayor said the project had taken longer than had originally been hoped.<\/p>\n

This was because of the need to gain approval from third party agencies, such as the Department Of Main Roads.<\/p>\n

However, supermarket developer Breezeway Developments Pty Ltd has now lodged a development application with the Council, and the project was still on track.<\/p>\n

At the SBRC’s June meeting, Councillors granted a development permit to allow the Memorial Hall to be relocated to a spot in Bowman Road between the Taromeo Rural Fire Brigade\u2019s shed and the Blackbutt Showgrounds.<\/strong><\/p>\n

They also voted to partner with the Blackbutt-Benarkin Community Council to seek grant funding to build a new, sealed 22-bay parking area next to the Hall, along with other improvements to the exterior and grounds, once it was relocated.<\/p>\n

Mayor Campbell said the Council wanted to assist the Blackbutt-Benarkin community achieve what the majority of residents said they wanted \u2013 a supermarket.<\/p>\n

However, he emphasised that construction work on the supermarket would not begin until the Memorial Hall had been successfully relocated; and the Hall itself would not be moved until all aspects of the supermarket project were approved.<\/p>\n

Concept drawings showing what the Memorial Hall will look like in its new location will be on display at next week’s information sessions.<\/p>\n

Concept drawings for the supermarket will also be on display if they are available, and councillors and council staff will be on hand to discuss any aspect of the development.<\/p>\n

The 30-minute information sessions will be for individuals or groups of up to 10 people, and need to be booked.<\/p>\n
