The 2016 Queensland Regional Art Awards offer $15,000 in prizes and the chance to have artworks tour the State next year<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

South Burnett artists have been invited enter the Queensland Regional Art Awards (QRAA) for a chance to win a share of $15,000 in prize monies.<\/p>\n

The QRAA, which began in 2009, is run by the Flying Arts Alliance.<\/p>\n

The Awards are an annual visual arts prize and exhibition for established and emerging artists living in regional and remote Queensland.<\/p>\n

Apart from prize monies, the QRAA also offer the opportunity for entrants to have their work to tour the state in 2017.<\/p>\n

“The class and variety of entries over the past seven years is impressive, and a fine testament to the high quality of artwork produced in our state,” Flying Arts CEO Kerryanne Farrer said<\/p>\n

“Importantly. it is a dynamic visual archive of ideas, stories and experience that reflect the character and culture of Queensland.”<\/p>\n

The theme of this year’s QRAA is “Colours of Queensland”.<\/p>\n

Artists are asked to consider what brings colour, vibrancy and life to their local community or region, drawing on personal experiences and observations.<\/p>\n

The idea of colour is not limited to a figurative interpretation; artists who work with limited or monochromatic palettes are encouraged to address the theme conceptually.<\/p>\n

Awards on offer this year include a variety of acquisitive and non-acquisitive awards, with cash prizes and residencies totalling over $15,000.<\/p>\n

All entries are eligible for the $10,000 Flying Arts “Art for Life” Award, and will be displayed in the Flying Arts online gallery prior to judging.<\/p>\n

Entries may also be selected for the 2017 Brisbane and regional Queensland touring exhibition.<\/p>\n

Commercial gallery operator and art dealer Andrew Baker is the head judge and curator for QRAA 2016.<\/p>\n

Entries close at 5:00pm on Monday, July 18.<\/p>\n
