UPDATE: Member for Flynn Ken O’Dowd has gained on his ALP rival Zac Beers as counting has proceeded in the seat.<\/strong><\/p>\n

AEC officials began counting postal votes on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Mr O’Dowd secured 64.17 per cent of the postal votes against Mr Beers (35.83 per cent) on a two party preferred basis.<\/p>\n

This has narrowed the margin between the two men to just 1065 votes.<\/p>\n

And with 9030 postal, declaration pre-poll and provisional votes still remaining to be counted, Mr O’Dowd could potentially get over the line if the postal voting trend holds steady.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday afternoon ABC election analyst Antony Green moved Flynn into the “Seats In Doubt” category after earlier ceding the seat to the ALP.<\/p>\n

It joins Cowan, Capricornia, Forde, Herbert, Hindmarsh and Gilmore as seats now regarded as “too close to call”.<\/p>\n

The latest figures from the Australian Electoral Commission show that LNP candidate Ken O’Dowd is slowly reeling in the ALP’s Zac Beers.<\/p>\n

At 9:00pm on Tuesday, Mr Beers was leading Mr O’Dowd by just 487 votes on first preferences (34,532 to 34,045).<\/p>\n

However, on a two-candidate preferred basis, the gap was larger: ALP 34,967 to LNP 33,143.<\/p>\n

All polling booths have now been counted but AEC figures showed there were still 11,000 voting envelopes awaiting processing.<\/p>\n
