It’s time to look on top of the wardrobe, under the bed and in the back of drawers for those long-lost heirlooms … Kumbia’s annual Antiques Roadshow is on again next month.<\/p>\n

This will be the fourth time the Kumbia Progress Association has held the popular event.<\/p>\n

“Our roadshow grows in popularity each year and last year\u2019s weekend format worked well in giving the valuer more time to discuss each guest\u2019s treasures,”\u00a0Progress Association president Stephanie Stevens said.<\/p>\n

“As usual, we were all astonished by the huge array of articles brought in for appraisal.”<\/p>\n

Valuer Ray Dalton travels from Victoria every year to host the event.<\/p>\n

“He and his wife enjoy the hospitality extended to them by the Kumbia community,” Steph said.<\/p>\n

“Ray has an engaging personality and a quirky sense of humour and has become a feature of the weekend himself.<\/p>\n

“His knowledge seems boundless and guests always leave the Kumbia Antiques Roadshow not only having learned more about antiques, but also pick up a few tips on how to spot a bargain.”<\/p>\n

Everyone is allowed to bring two small items (no furniture) for valuation.<\/p>\n

A written valuation will be provided.<\/p>\n

Lunch and afternoon tea will also be served during the day.<\/p>\n

“Everyone is seated and you will be called up in turn for your items to be appraised,” Steph said.<\/p>\n

“Not only do you learn more about your own pieces but you will see and learn about the other treasures brought in.<\/p>\n

“If there is some family history or a story attached to your items, this always adds extra interest for the audience.<\/p>\n

“This year we will have a camera on the table linked to a large screen so you will be able to see the items in detail as Ray talks about them.”<\/p>\n

The Kumbia Antiques Roadshow will be held on July 30-31.<\/strong><\/p>\n

On Saturday, the session will begin at 10:30am and on Sunday, at 11:00am.<\/p>\n

Tickets are $25 per day (or $40 for both days) which includes two valuations and meals.<\/p>\n

Tickets are available from Options and Kingaroy Office Central in Kingaroy, and Lenihan\u2019s Butchery in Kumbia.<\/p>\n

“When purchasing your tickets, please specify which day you wish to come,” Steph said.<\/p>\n

“There will be no ticket sales at the door as seating is limited.<\/p>\n

“This year there will be markets in the Kumbia Hall grounds on Saturday, starting at 8:00am, so come along and snap up a bargain.<\/p>\n

“If you have large items or wish to have a number of pieces valued, Ray will come to your home on Monday.”<\/p>\n
