A Nanango band is making waves in the online music scene, currently ranking in the Top 10 in Brisbane for rock \/ punk.<\/p>\n

Ziggy & The Copycat Killers has been as high as No 4 in Australia with their track “Don’t Mind Baby”\u00a0 (see below) … not bad for band that has only been playing together this year.<\/p>\n

The group has been brought together by Luke Green (lead guitar, vocals) who is playing alongside Mario “Muzza” Tedeschi (bass), Bob Crawford (drums) and Zane English (lead guitar).<\/p>\n

Luke aka “Ziggy” (“… he played it left hand”) is no newcomer to the pub rock scene in the South Burnett.<\/p>\n

Back in 1994, the left-handed guitarist recorded a seven-track record “Street Wize” with band Final Drive. Two years later, he had a local hit with the band Blue Max and the song “Fully Unemployed”, which mentioned Fitzroy Street, Nanango.<\/p>\n

But then Luke took\u00a0a 10-year break from the music scene, basically to “turn on, tune in and drop out” as he roamed Australia and wrote poetry.<\/p>\n

He describes Ziggy & The Copycat Killers as a retro punk band, in the mould of Iggy Pop, Lou Reed or even Eddie Cochran.<\/p>\n

They played their first gig together in March at Nanango’s Palace Hotel.<\/p>\n

Luke said they had a repertoire of about 100 songs: 60 covers and 40 originals, many from Luke’s back catalogue that goes back to the 1990s.<\/p>\n

Despite their success online, the band plans to concentrate on local gigs for the moment.<\/p>\n

And they have a big one coming up … Guy Fawkes Night (November 5)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Six years ago, Luke organised a Guy Fawkes Night concert in Pioneer Park – and even made a “guy” to burn. But in the end, Luke couldn’t bring himself to burn the dummy.<\/p>\n

He promised he’d organise another one … and with Guy Fawkes Day falling on a Saturday in 2016, this year seemed made for the occasion.<\/p>\n

The 2016 Nanango Guy Fawkes Concert will feature seven bands across nine hours, starting at 1:00pm.<\/p>\n

Headliners will be popular Brisbane band Fat Pigs, and, of course, Ziggy & The Copycat Killers will also be on stage.<\/p>\n

The day is being organised in conjunction with NaTDA.<\/p>\n

So, as Luke says … ” Remember, remember, the fifth of November!”<\/strong><\/p>\n
