{"id":14962,"date":"2012-11-02T13:59:24","date_gmt":"2012-11-02T03:59:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/?p=14962"},"modified":"2020-10-01T13:35:42","modified_gmt":"2020-10-01T03:35:42","slug":"nominations-open-for-australia-day-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2012\/11\/02\/nominations-open-for-australia-day-awards\/","title":{"rendered":"Nominations Open for Australia Day Awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>November 2, 2012<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>South Burnett Regional Council has announced that nominations are now open for the region\u2019s 2013 Australia Day Awards.<\/p>\n<p>The awards provide the community with an opportunity to acknowledge and reward outstanding groups and individuals committed to improving the lifestyle experienced in our region.<\/p>\n<p>A Council spokesman said some of the award categories have changed this year to give individual communities an equal opportunity to nominate those who have made special contributions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Award categories are as follows:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>South Burnett Citizen of the Year &#8211;\u00a0<\/strong>To be presented to a citizen who has made a noteworthy contribution during the current year and has given outstanding service to the local community over a number of years. To be eligible, the person must be 25 years of age or older as at January 26, 2013.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>South Burnett Young Citizen of the Year<\/strong> &#8211;\u00a0To be presented to a young citizen who has made a noteworthy contribution during the current year and has given outstanding service to the local community over a number of years. To be eligible, the person must be under the age of 25 years as at January 26, 2013.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>South Burnett Community Organisation of the Year<\/strong> &#8211;\u00a0To be presented to the organisation which has made an outstanding contribution to the community during the current year and has given outstanding service to the local community over a number of years.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>South Burnett Lifetime Achievement Award\u00a0<\/strong>&#8211;\u00a0To be presented to a senior citizen in the region who has given outstanding service to the local community over a number of years; the person must be 60 years of age or older as at January 26, 2013.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>South Burnett Volunteer of the Year<\/strong> &#8211;\u00a0This award is presented to a citizen who has made a noteworthy contribution through their volunteer work during the current year and have given outstanding volunteer services to the local community over a number of years. Open to all ages.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>South Burnett Cultural Award<\/strong> &#8211;\u00a0To be presented to a person who has made a noteworthy contribution to the cultural life of the region or an outstanding achievement in cultural activities. Open to all ages.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Local Achiever Award<\/strong>&#8211;\u00a0These awards be to presented to persons who have made an outstanding achievement in their local community. Open to all ages: Blackbutt\/Benarkin &#8211; Nanango &#8211; Wondai\/Tingoora &#8211;\u00a0Maidenwell\/Bunya Mountains &#8211; Kingaroy &#8211; Murgon &#8211;\u00a0Kumbia &#8211; Wooroolin\/Memerambi &#8211; Hivesville\/Proston &#8211; Other rural areas (nominate which area)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>South Burnett Junior Sportsperson of the Year<\/strong>&#8211;\u00a0To be eligible the person must be no more than 18 years of age as at January 26, 2013<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>South Burnett Sportsperson of the Year<\/strong> &#8211;\u00a0To be eligible the person must be 18 years of age as at January 26, 2013<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The regional awards ceremony will be held on the eve of Australia Day, ie Friday January 25, at the Blackbutt Memorial Hall.<\/p>\n<p>More information on award categories and how to nominate is available on Council\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.southburnett.qld.gov.au\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>website<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The closing date for nominations is Friday, December 7.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Completed nominations whould be sent to:\u00a0South Burnett Regional Council,\u00a0Australia Day Nominations,\u00a0PO Box 336,\u00a0Kingaroy, 4610<\/p>\n<p><strong>[UPDATED November 6]<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>South Burnett Regional Council has announced that nominations are now open for the region\u2019s 2013 Australia Day Awards.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":20,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[22,3],"tags":[83],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v19.11 -
