Blackbutt will be repeating its popular Queensland Week celebrations next year following a grant of $7200 from the State Government announced today.<\/p>\n

The Our Bloomin’ Beautiful Blackbutt Queensland Week Celebration, organised by Friends of Cultcha, will be held on Sunday, June 9, 2013.<\/p>\n

It will include entertainment accompanied by local cuisine. The day will commence with a poet\u2019s breakfast, followed by the raising of the Queensland Flag and reading of the Proclamation.<\/p>\n

Other activities will include a competition on “What Queensland means to me”, children\u2019s activities, art and craft stalls, community achievement awards and old-time games.<\/p>\n

Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington congratulated Friends of Cultcha on their successful application.<\/p>\n

Premier Campbell Newman said today that Queensland Week would be a truly statewide celebration in 2013, with 13 events receiving sponsorship.<\/p>\n

\u201cEarlier this year, we invited applications from organisations for up to $10,000 in cash sponsorship for events held to celebrate Queensland Week in 2013,\u201d Mr Newman said.<\/p>\n

\u201cEach event will create a unique opportunity for regional communities to share in the celebrations and reflect on what it means to be a Queenslander.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis funding helps engage communities that haven\u2019t traditionally held events to celebrate Queensland Week, and provides an opportunity to grow existing events.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s great to see that 11 new events will be joining the 2013 Queensland Week calendar of events, with two events successful in receiving funding for the second year.\u201d<\/p>\n

Queensland Week<\/strong><\/a> will be held from June 1-9, 2013, and marks the State\u2019s official separation from New South Wales.<\/p>\n
