Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce says a re-elected Coalition Federal Government will encourage greater use of the Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC) by the agricultural sector. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe CEFC is already able to invest in energy efficient technologies and renewables, however at June 30, only 12 per cent of the CEFC\u2019s investment was in the agriculture, forestry and fishing sector,” Mr Joyce said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are opportunities for agriculture to capture an increased share of the CEFC\u2019s investment to improve the sector\u2019s competitiveness and profitability. <\/p>\n

\u201cA re-elected Coalition Government will direct the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources to work with the CEFC to identify projects suitable for investment.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mr Joyce said eligible businesses could include farms, abattoirs, sugar mills, irrigation infrastructure operators and timber and dairy processors.<\/p>\n

He said examples of suitable energy efficient technologies could include micro hydro power generation, bio-digestion and on-farm renewables.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
