The costs of doing business with the South Burnett Regional Council will rise by an average 2.5 per cent from July 1.<\/p>\n

The Council adopted its new Register Of Fees And Charges for 2016-17 at its meeting on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The Register governs everything from how much the Council charges for photocopies to entry costs at the region’s swimming pools.<\/p>\n

Finance portfolio chair Cr Ros Heit said the average rise across all items in the schedule was 2.5 per cent.<\/p>\n

Some services had slightly higher rises, and others had been “rounded down” for administrative convenience.<\/p>\n

The Register was adopted ahead of this year’s Budget meeting to enable the pricing changes to go live in Council systems on July 1.<\/p>\n

The rise in fees and charges is slightly higher than consumer CPI over the last 12 months (1.8 per cent), but in line with similar rises over the last three years.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It means that in real terms most Council charges haven’t risen – or have risen only marginally – since 2013.<\/p>\n

The Council will bring down its 2016-17 Budget at a special meeting on Monday, June 27.<\/p>\n
