{"id":148581,"date":"2016-06-14T20:40:55","date_gmt":"2016-06-14T10:40:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/?p=148581"},"modified":"2020-10-12T16:18:57","modified_gmt":"2020-10-12T06:18:57","slug":"incentives-for-regional-employers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2016\/06\/14\/incentives-for-regional-employers\/","title":{"rendered":"Incentives For Regional Employers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><figure id=\"attachment_150163\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-150163\" style=\"width: 200px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/grace-grace-200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"350\" class=\"size-full wp-image-150163\" srcset=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/grace-grace-200.jpg 200w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/grace-grace-200-171x300.jpg 171w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-150163\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Employment Minister<br \/>Grace Grace<\/figcaption><\/figure> <strong>June 14, 2016<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A new State Government employment program announced in Tuesday&#8217;s State Budget will offer regional employers $10,000 to $15,000 to take on new staff and keep them employed for 12 months.<\/p>\n<p>The government said its new $100 million Regional Jobs Package aims to create up to 8000 jobs outside south-east Queensland over the next two years.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our Back to Work initiative is all about bringing more jobs to regional Queensland,&#8221; Employment Minister Grace Grace said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It\u2019s a $100 million package that will give businesses the confidence to employ regional jobseekers, while providing an economic boost to the regions in challenging times.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re specifically targeting regional Queensland communities because of the particular employment challenges they&#8217;re facing.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>The new package includes:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>$80 million in support payments for employers to take on regional jobseekers, including those disadvantaged in the labour market such as the long-term unemployed, young people, mature aged jobseekers, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>$10 million for the Certificate 3 Guarantee Boost Program so that more Queenslanders able to access subsidised courses to obtain jobs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>$10 million for Back to Work officers who know the local economy and local employers, and can connect employers and jobseekers to opportunities and support, including through Regional Employment Networks<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&#8220;Regional employers who hire an eligible unemployed person will get a $10,000 payment under this initiative,&#8221; Ms Grace said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This will rise to $15,000 for the long-term unemployed who have been out of work for 12 months or more.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Apprentices and trainees are also counted as eligible employees under the scheme, provided their employer is not eligible for the Government\u2019s payroll tax rebate.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Eligible employees will also have access to job readiness payments to help them start a new job.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Budget Wrap-Up:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2016\/06\/2016-state-budget-what-we-get\/\"><strong>2016 State Budget: What We Get<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2016\/06\/8-2m-to-roll-out-batteries\/\"><strong>Extra $5000 For First Home Buyers<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2016\/06\/8-2m-to-roll-out-batteries\/\"><strong>$8.2m To Roll Out Batteries<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2016\/06\/more-money-for-councils\/\"><strong>More Money For Councils<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2016\/06\/banks-forced-into-mediation\/\"><strong>Banks Forced Into Mediation<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2016\/06\/15m-top-up-for-black-spots\/\"><strong>$15m Top-Up For Black Spots<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A new State Government employment program announced in Tuesday&#8217;s State Budget will offer regional employers $10,000 to $15,000 to take on new staff and keep them employed for 12 months <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":150164,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[5,3],"tags":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v19.11 -
