Agriculture Minister John McVeigh<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Agriculture Minister John McVeigh has welcomed the appointees of the new Horticulture Industry Development Group at its first quarterly meeting today.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis important group will work with the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry to progress issues relating to the future prosperity of the Queensland horticulture sector,\u201d Mr McVeigh said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Newman Government is committed to the goal of doubling food production in Queensland by 2040.<\/p>\n

\u201cBy bringing together industry teams such as the Horticulture IDG we are laying the groundwork for a more productive future in Queensland.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Horticulture IDG will also oversee the delivery of the $500,000 Horticulture Workforce Plan election commitment.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe membership includes industry leaders and successful horticulture business people who understand the issues and challenges for this sector.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis will ensure a strong business approach to growing the horticulture industry.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Horticulture IDG will be led by Mr Selwyn Snell, a highly respected member of the industry.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs an independent chair, Mr Snell will be responsible for facilitating actions and activities that meet key industry needs.\u201d<\/p>\n
