Meet A Guru Of Motor Sport …<\/strong><\/p>\n

A special guest at the Wondai Sprints will be well-known motoring writer and motor sports commentator Will Hagon.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Will has been living, breathing and writing about cars and motorbikes since the 1960s.<\/p>\n

The former Sunday Telegraph motoring writer is also a track commentator, radio broadcaster and video producer.<\/p>\n

Will enjoyed his first taste of motor racing watching sprint cars at the old Sydney Showgrounds speedway.<\/p>\n

He attended his first Bathurst\u00a0as a youngster in 1959 …<\/p>\n

Will has called motor races in England and Australia, covered the famous 1968 London to Sydney marathon and was a familiar voice trackside at legendary venues such as Catalina Park, Oran Park and Warwick Farm.<\/p>\n

He has been involved in Australian motor sport\u00a0 one way or another for more than 50 years … and can still be heard on ABC radio.<\/p>\n

And he’ll be commentator at Wondai at the weekend!<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

A motor racing track has sprung into existence in the back streets of the Wondai Industrial Estate … all ready for this weekend’s inaugural Wondai Street Sprints.<\/p>\n

Concrete fencing now lines the track – which features freshly laid bitumen – tyre barriers have been positioned at strategic points, and direction signs have\u00a0 appeared on the Bunya Highway.<\/p>\n

Organisers have been working hard to make sure everything is ready for an event that could become a highlight of the sporting year in the South Burnett.<\/p>\n

A hundred entrants have nominated, in classes including historic, touring cars, sports sedans, racing cars and “special interest”.<\/p>\n

Racing will begin at 9:00am on Saturday and Sunday and finish at 4:30pm on Saturday and 3:00pm on Sunday.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A one-day pass for spectators is $15 (or $25 for both days). Under 14s are free.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, a Show and Shine will also be held in the sports oval adjacent to the racetrack.<\/strong><\/p>\n

South Burnett car enthusiasts can register on the day at the gate.<\/p>\n

Judging will run from 9:00am to 12:30pm with trophies presented at 1:00pm.<\/p>\n
