Saints turned out in their “heritage” strip of red, white and blue for Saturday’s game<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The South Burnett Saints AFL team bounced back on Saturday with a big win over neighbours Chinchilla at Lyle Vidler Oval in Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

The wet conditions didn’t put a dampener on the team’s “Heritage” round.<\/p>\n

The Saints ditched their red and white jerseys for the old Kingaroy Bulldogs’ strip.<\/p>\n

There is a friendly rivalry with the Chinchilla Suns as both teams entered the Darling Downs competition at the same time in 2013.<\/p>\n

The game started evenly enough but the Saints changed gears in the second quarter and romped away. They didn’t slow down until the full-time siren.<\/p>\n

The final score was 25.13 (163) to 6.5 (41).<\/p>\n

Saints’ goals were kicked by Carl Stevenson (7), Adam Bowater (5), Ty Snow (4), Paul Judge (3), Scott Ingram, Daniel Clacy, Keiran Snow, Matthew Patroni, Daniel Braxton and Nocholas Krauksts.<\/p>\n

The next outing for the South Burnett men will be on June 25 against the Warwick Redbacks at Warwick.<\/p>\n

This will be the final round of the first section of the 2016 competition.<\/p>\n

Saints’ women’s player Reanna Fenton has been selected for rep honours.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Darling Downs AFL Senior Women’s coaching panel has announced the team which will take on Wide Bay on June 11.<\/p>\n

The highlight of Shaleise Law’s Australian Rules’ career to date came when she ran on to the home of Aussie Rules, the MCG, recently with the Brisbane Lions.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was the former Cherbourg resident’s second outing for the Lions during the 10-match national Women\u2019s Exhibition Series which has been organised as a lead-up to a full women\u2019s AFL competition in 2017.<\/p>\n

The Lions came up against a rampaging Melbourne Demons, going down 14.7 (91) to 3.2 (20).<\/p>\n

However, Shaleise lifted the Lions’ hopes when she slotted home the team’s first goal on the run.<\/p>\n

The inaugural women’s season will be made up of eight teams: four from Victoria and one each from Queensland,\u00a0 NSW, South Australia and Western Australia.<\/p>\n

The season will run from February to March 2017.<\/p>\n
