South Burnett Saints will be looking to get back into the winner’s circle when they meet the Chinchilla Suns at Lyle Vidler Oval in Kingaroy on Saturday afternoon.<\/p>\n

The home team is coming off three defeats, despite strong comebacks in the second half, while Chinchilla is yet to chalk up a win in the 2016 season.<\/p>\n

Last Saturday’s effort by the Saints – who are without key players due to injury – was almost enough to secure a victory against the South Toowoomba Bombers.<\/p>\n

The Bombers led at half-time 6.6 (42) to 4.6 (30) but a big effort by the South Burnett players brought them level-pegging at the end of the third-quarter, both sides locked on 9.8 (62).<\/p>\n

But at full-time, the Saints were behind 11.13 (79) to 10.9 (69).<\/p>\n

South Burnett goals were kicked by Brad Pressnell (2), Nathan Trace (2), Nicholas Krauksts (2), Carl Stevenson (2), Paul Judge and Keegan Wright.<\/p>\n

In the earlier game, South Burnett women came up against the much stronger Bombers, going down 19.20 (134) to 3.1 (19). Jessica Langton kicked South Burnett’s three goals.<\/p>\n

This weekend is the Saints’ “Heritage Round” where they pay tribute to their Kingaroy Bulldogs’ lineage by playing in tricolor jerseys.<\/p>\n

The Saints’ women will take on the combined Coolaroo \/ Warwick side at 1:00pm, followed by the men’s game against Chinchilla at 2:50pm.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
