The Kingaroy Cruisers will be hitting the bitumen again soon in their annual trek to Brisbane to take part in the Brissie To The Bay cycle fundraiser for MS Queensland.<\/p>\n

It will be the sixth year in a row that Kingaroy resident Josie Potter has taken part in the ride, a remarkable feat considering she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2000 and was in hospital in a critical condition in September 2013.<\/p>\n

Participants have the choice of four distances to ride: 10km, 25km, 50km or 100km on June 19.<\/p>\n

Josie has registered for the 25km ride, but some of the other members of the Kingaroy Cruisers team will be pushing themselves much further.<\/p>\n

Several riders have registered for the 100km ride, including Kingaroy resident Kodie Stead, whose grandmother was diagnosed with MS eight years ago, and former Kingaroy – now Gladstone – rider Tamika Perkins.<\/p>\n

Both girls rode in the 50km Brissie To The Bay route last year but have decided to step up to the longer distance to test themselves this time.<\/p>\n

This is the 26th year that the Brissie To The Bay ride has been\u00a0 held, and thousands of riders are expected to take part.<\/p>\n

Last year’s event attracted about 9000 riders and broke Queensland records as the biggest ever bike ride held in the State.<\/p>\n

This year organisers are hoping to break another record and raise $1.8 million from the event.<\/p>\n

The Kingaroy Cruisers team, which consists of 25 riders, will be playing their part.\u00a0 Last year they raised an amazing $18,100.<\/p>\n

Supporters who would like to sponsor the team can make a donation on their fundraising page<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Or keep an eye out for the team’s raffle.\u00a0 Sellers will be at Kingaroy Shoppingworld on Saturday, June 11, and on Thursday, June 16, in Kingaroy Street outside the chemist.<\/p>\n
