Gympie Mayor Mick Curran<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Three people have been charged following a disturbance at Gympie Regional Council’s main office on Tuesday morning which involved Mayor Mick Curran and CEO Bernard Smith.<\/p>\n

The disturbance occurred about 11:30am at the office in Mary Street, Gympie.<\/p>\n

Police will allege two men and a woman entered the council offices and forced their way behind a counter area into a private area.<\/p>\n

It will then be alleged a physical altercation occurred between the two male intruders and three council staff, including the Mayor and CEO.<\/p>\n

Police were called and arrested three people.<\/p>\n

A 50-year-old Southside man and a 51-year-old Avoca man have each been charged with two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm whilst in company and one count each of common assault, serious assault police, public nuisance and trespass.<\/p>\n

A 58-year-old Curra woman has been charged with two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm whilst in company and one count each of common assault, public nuisance and trespass.<\/p>\n

Local media have reported the incident involved supposed representatives of the Kabi Kabi nation who do not recognise Federal or State Government sovereignty over Australia.<\/p>\n
