FLASHBACK: The poor state of the South Burnett’s bridges was discovered in 2013, which prompted the Council to embark on a multi-million dollar bridge replacement program; another four bridges will get fixed this month, including two which currently have load limits<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Four more of the region’s ageing wooden bridges will be restored to full working order this month.<\/p>\n

Webbers Creek Bridge on Webbers Bridge Road near Wooroonden, the AB Grimes Bridge on Manar Road at Boondooma, Horse Gully Bridge on the Gayndah-Hivesville Road and a bridge on Stumckes Road north of Kinleymore will all be undergoing repairs.<\/p>\n

The bridges were identified as priorities after a region-wide bridge inspection program at the end of 2013, which resulted in some bridges being load-limited and others being closed.<\/p>\n

Horse Gully Bridge currently has a 30 tonne limit and Webbers Road Bridge is limited to 20 tonnes.<\/p>\n

The South Burnett Regional Council called a tender for the work as part of this year’s budgeted capital works program, and in April awarded the $270,000 contract to Professional Bridge Services Pty Ltd.<\/p>\n

Repair work is expected to begin this week and is forecast to be completed by the end of the month.<\/p>\n

Traffic will be managed through a full road closure for works on Webbers Bridge Road.<\/p>\n

The other three bridges will remain open, but Council staff will use a guidance scheme to manage traffic.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
