Kingaroy’s Memorial Park was awash with dogs and their owners on Sunday morning … and it was all in a good cause.<\/p>\n

They’d assembled to take part in the annual Million Paws Walk, which is run by the RSPCA each May at venues right around Australia.<\/p>\n

The Walk is the RSPCA’s biggest annual fundraiser, and enables the organisation to assist in caring for the more than 18,000 dogs its shelters receive every year in Queensland.<\/p>\n

The South Burnett’s own Million Paws Walk started in 2007, and it\u2019s a “dogs only” event.<\/p>\n

But it has steadily grown in popularity over the last nine years and many participants are now committed regulars.<\/p>\n

They turn out for a relaxed 4km morning stroll with their best four-legged friends, followed by fun, games and inspecting lots of pet-related stalls offering anything from obedience training to veterinary services and hydrobaths.<\/p>\n

This year, the South Burnett’s top canine blogger Skip (of Skip’s Diary<\/b><\/a> fame) put in an appearance with his owner Cherry Carroll to add a touch of celebrity to the event.<\/p>\n

Skip hasn’t written his own report about this year’s Walk yet, but fans will no doubt be eager to read his own unique perspective on the morning.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, the RSPCA’s South Burnett organisers said they were very pleased with the turnout and thanked everyone who took part.<\/p>\n

Four kilometres is a long way if you have very short legs, and some of the smaller breeds appreciated being carried part of the way by their owners … but no one seemed to mind<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
