Kingaroy Rotary club is so pleased with the charity jewellery auction it hosted last weekend, it’s planning to do it all over again next year.<\/p>\n

This is the second time the club has run a jewellery auction to raise funds, and this time the idea really took off with several thousand dollars being raised for the local South Burnett Private Hospital.<\/p>\n

There were 100 items of jewellery put forward for auction, selected by Brisbane-based company Jewellery Auction And Sales<\/a>. \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Each item had a professional valuation and many did not have a reserve price.<\/p>\n

Rotary received the “buyer’s premium” for these items, ie 12.5 per cent of the sale.<\/p>\n

As well, the auction company also donated three items to go under the hammer. Funds raised from the sale of these three pieces of jewellery went solely to Rotary.<\/p>\n

Auction organiser Liz Waters, from Rotary, said more than 80 bidders had signed up to take part.<\/p>\n

Rotary will use the funds raised to partner with the South Burnett Regional Council in refurbishing the bathrooms at the private hospital.<\/p>\n

All the other proceeds from the night, ie food and bar sales, and entry tickets, will also be put towards this project.<\/p>\n

“We’ve had so much success with this, it’s planned to be an annual event,” Liz said.<\/p>\n
