May 12, 2016<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Burrandowan Picnic Race Club will be holding its 94th annual race meeting at the Burrandowan Racecourse 66km west of Kingaroy this Saturday, May 14.<\/p>\n

For more than nine decades, crowds have been gathering at Burrandowan on the second Saturday in May to take in the atmosphere of a true bush picnic race meeting.<\/p>\n

The race itself generates funds for worthy causes – this year it’s RACQ CareFlight – and many food and drink outlets are run by local service clubs to assist their own community projects.<\/p>\n

A shuttle bus will be running from Kingaroy and overnight camping is available at the track.<\/p>\n

The day starts with clay target shooting at 9:00am.<\/p>\n

Racing begins at 1:00pm and there\u2019s a five-race card as well as a keenly contested Fashions of the Field competition.<\/p>\n

Punters can also book in for a High Tea at the race club’s historic hall in the afternoon, or pre-order gourmet picnic hampers for a trackside lunch, both through the Burrandowan website.<\/p>\n

After the racing, pit-fired barbecues will run into the night with a fully licensed bar (no BYO) and live music from Kerry Kennedy and Double Barrel.<\/p>\n
