Saturday\u2019s annual Burrandowan meeting will see two winners and nine losers from last year\u2019s program seeking a share of the spoils.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Writtenintherain and Le Max, the exacta in the 2015 edition of the Open Handicap for their respective riders Danielle Daniel and Shannon Apthorpe, were separated by a nose at the end of their 1200 metre journey.<\/p>\n

The pair take each other on again this year in the same event, with Le Max\u2019s camp keen to change the pattern, having had two outings on the course for two seconds.<\/p>\n

This time around Writtenintherain, prepared near Dalby by Graeme Postle, will have the services of regular mate Leeanne McCoy, while Melody O\u2019Brien will be aboard Le Max.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Chinchilla trainer Mark Goodwin, his stable jockey Lyall Appo and Red Beretta will again look to gun down their opposition in the longest event on the agenda, the $10,000 Burrandowan Cup (BM 50).<\/p>\n

Other acceptors with track experience from the proceedings twelve months ago include Fields of Oxley, the closest of runner-ups, Yamanners (third), Mystery Angel (third) and Captain Clayton (third), as well as the unplaced brigade of Lillian Eliza, Famechon Baroness, Nador, Chilldown and King of Jacks.<\/p>\n

Bayliss Made It To The Podium<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Last Saturday\u2019s Esk meeting was very satisfying for Shaun Bayliss and his son Corey, a debutant apprentice who is indentured ton Chris Munce.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The lad\u2019s career-opening effort on Fynnstar saw him run sixth, a mere length and three parts adrift of the winner Shouts All Round.<\/p>\n

The four kilogram claimer then promptly filled the runner-up berth on Effective Assassin (beaten a short neck), and was also a tidy fourth on Some Excel.<\/p>\n

Shaun, in scoring on By Emteeare by the shortest possible nose, was only a length ahead of the “his colt” on Beer N Barmaid.<\/p>\n

This weekend at Burrandowan , Shaun and Corey will be rivals four times.<\/p>\n

By the way, Corey and Shaun are not related to the southern based apprentices Jake and Reagan Bayliss.<\/p>\n

They are originally from Ipswich and their father Jamie, after a stint as a trainer, made a comeback to race-riding.<\/p>\n

His season form line stands at 94:10-15-6.<\/p>\n

His most recent victorious run was registered at King Island, when he landed four winners in seven days.<\/p>\n

It’s also worth mentioning that Ben Robinson – the Beaudesert conditioner who has several representatives scheduled to line up at Burrandowan – collected a double at Esk with By Emteeare and Jason Hoopert\u2019s mount Vancouver Star.<\/p>\n

Both in-form gallopers are owned by Peter and Peta Gray.<\/p>\n

Hudson’s Happy Double<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Oakey conditioner Bradley Hudson, a regular figure at Burnett tracks, relished a very special double at Esk.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The story of his maiden winner Everingham began when he went to pick up some bloodstock from well known racing identity Peter Gray.<\/p>\n

A bayish brown horse took is his eye there and he added the unbroken neddy to his shopping cart as a $600 birthday gift for his wife Sharyn.<\/p>\n

The grandson of Danzero was so loved by the girls at the stud where he was born that they had him named before he could leave the place.<\/p>\n

They have therefore been able to follow his exploits.<\/p>\n

The QTIS bonus took Saturday\u2019s windfall to $8,050 the All Bar One gelding\u2019s earnings have reached $27,000.<\/p>\n

There was understandable jubilation when the breakthrough was achieved after the previous 34 tasks had picked up 13 placings.<\/p>\n

The other triumph was recorded in the feature the $10,000 Celebration BM 60 (1460m) when General Kingsman saluted for Hudson and the in-form, now Provinicial B licensed junior Adam Spinks.<\/p>\n

The King of Happiness gelding, after spending a long time off the scene, has progressed well in his four assignments for his new stable.<\/p>\n

Reminder: The race day component of St Mary\u2019s Catholic College combined anniversaries celebrations at Nanango on May 30 last year was a real hit. So much so that an encore excursion to Lee Park is scheduled for the next meeting there on May 28.<\/strong><\/p>\n
