The new Sky Muster Broadband Service will bring broadband services to many people living in remote parts of the South Burnett for the first time, Federal Member for Wide Bay Warren Truss said today.<\/p>\n

The new NBN service will offer download speeds of up to 25 Megabits per second (Mbps) and upload speeds of up to 5Mbps.<\/p>\n

Homes and businesses in the South Burnett will be eligible to connect to the service if they are outside NBN’s fixed line and fixed wireless coverage areas.<\/p>\n

Mr Truss said the Australian Government had invested $2 billion in two advanced Ka-band satellites and a network of ground stations that make up the Sky Muster service.<\/p>\n

Equal priority will be given to new customers and current NBN Interim Satellite Service users migrating to Sky Muster.<\/p>\n

Around 5000 users per month will be connected in the early months of the rollout, before scaling up to 10,000 installations per month later this year. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Each service requires the professional installation of a new receiver dish and indoor modem.<\/p>\n

More than 600 installers have been trained, and are each forecast to reach an average one to two premises per day.<\/p>\n

A variety of broadband plans will be available from providers.<\/p>\n
