South Burnett Saints enjoyed a comfortable win during their away trip to Dalby on Saturday, April 23.<\/p>\n

The men’s team defeated the Swans 21.8 (134) to 9.5 (59).<\/p>\n

The visitors got off to a slow start and were\u00a0less than a goal ahead at the first change.<\/p>\n

However, by the second half they had Dalby’s measure, finishing the third quarter easily ahead: 16.7 (103) to 9.5 (59).<\/p>\n

The Saints powered home in the last quarter, keeping the Swans to just one goal while piling on five of their own.<\/p>\n

South Burnett goals were kicked by Carl Stevenson (9), Ty Snow (5), David Black (2), Peter Collins, Brad Pressnell, Dylan Bowater, Kieran Askin and Adam Bowater.<\/p>\n

Saints are now at third spot on the ladder with Coolaroo and Goondiwindi filling the top two slots on for and against.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, the Saints’ women’s side didn’t come home smiling from their first game of the season.<\/strong><\/p>\n

They had a bye in Round 1 and came up against a rampaging Dalby side which had just secured a 132-0 demolition of South Toowoomba.<\/p>\n

South Burnett did better than the Bombers, managing to breach the Swans’ defence in the third-quarter for a goal and a behind.<\/p>\n

The final score was 22.9 (141) to 1.2 (8).<\/p>\n

Jessica Langton kicked the solitary goal.<\/p>\n

Dalby have now scored 273 points in two matches and only conceded eight but, amazingly, they’re not at the top of the women’s ladder.<\/p>\n

That honour goes to the Toowoomba Tigers who have put together back-to-back wins for a total of 357 points, and have kept their opponents goal-less.<\/p>\n

This coming Saturday, April 30 the Saints will be able to test their mettle against them.<\/p>\n

Both the men’s and women’s divisions will be playing Toowoomba Tigers in Kingaroy on the Saints’ home ground at Lyle Vidler Oval.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
