FLASHBACK: Former South Burnett Mayor Wayne Kratzmann launching a campaign to find a new hospital operator in July last year; he has now been appointed as one of two honorary community representatives on the South Burnett Community Hospital Foundation’s board<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Former South Burnett Mayor Wayne Kratzmann has been appointed to the South Burnett Community Hospital Foundation’s board as one of the region’s two community representatives.<\/p>\n

The Foundation is a Council-owned not-for-profit company set up to oversee the management of the Lady Bjelke-Petersen Community Hospital, carry out fundraising activities for it and provide working capital for the hospital’s operators, if required.<\/p>\n

One Wednesday, the SBRC moved a motion to finalise the board’s membership.<\/p>\n

As announced at the statutory post-election meeting on April 7, Councillors Ros Heit and Danita Potter will be the SBRC’s representatives on the nine member board, along with Economic Development Manager Phil Harding, who will also act as Company Secretary.<\/p>\n

Dr Debra Tallam, Dr Robyn Ogle and Dr Graham McAllister will be the board’s three South Burnett medical representatives, along with Dr Mark Radford who will represent South Bank Day Hospital Pty Ltd, the hospital’s new operators.<\/p>\n

The final position on the board will be filled by Mr Scott McLennan from South Burnett Radiology, who will join Wayne Kratzmann as a second community representative.<\/p>\n

Mayor Keith Campbell and Council CEO Gary Wall will have observer status at board meetings.<\/p>\n

None of the nine directors will receive any payment for their work or any expenses they might run up attending meetings – all positions are honorary, and the company’s constitution expressly forbids it.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Wayne Kratzmann said last year he would be very happy to serve on the board once a new operator had been found, and was interested in playing a role in fundraising activities.<\/p>\n

As Mayor, he spearheaded an eight month search to find a new operator after Pulse Health pulled out on June 30th last year.<\/p>\n

His efforts resulted in an agreement being struck between the Council and South Bank Day Hospital earlier this month.<\/p>\n

The motion to appoint the Foundation’s new board was passed unanimously.<\/p>\n
