{"id":142519,"date":"2016-04-20T19:55:23","date_gmt":"2016-04-20T09:55:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/?p=142519"},"modified":"2020-10-18T15:05:54","modified_gmt":"2020-10-18T05:05:54","slug":"truck-tribunal-crashes-and-burns","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2016\/04\/20\/truck-tribunal-crashes-and-burns\/","title":{"rendered":"Truck Tribunal Crashes And Burns"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_50586\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-50586\" style=\"width: 200px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/brucescott.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-50586\" title=\"Bruce Scott\" src=\"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/brucescott.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"340\" srcset=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/brucescott.jpg 200w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/brucescott-176x300.jpg 176w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-50586\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Member for Maranoa Bruce Scott<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>April 20, 2016<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The controversial Road Safety Remuneration Tribunal &#8211; whose pay order caused heartache over the past few months to owner-driver truckies &#8211; will wink out of existence on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, Governor-General Sir Peter Cosgrove signed off on the &#8220;Road Safety Remuneration Repeal Act 2016&#8221; which means the tribunal will cease to operate.<\/p>\n<p>The repeal Bill passed through the House of Representatives and the Senate on Monday, <em><\/em> gaining the backing of cross-bench senators Jacqui Lambie, Nick Xenophon, John Madigan, Glenn Lazarus, Dio Wang and Bob Day.<\/p>\n<p>Truck drivers who defied the pay order during its short lifespan will not be penalised.<\/p>\n<p><strong>While confusion still reigned over the future of the RSRT and its pay order, the office of the Fair Work Ombudsman issued a public statement saying it would not punish truckies.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Given ongoing confusion and concern surrounding the introduction of the 2016 Order, the Fair Work Ombudsman wishes to make it abundantly clear that as the Regulator charged with monitoring and enforcing compliance with the Order, it has no intention of seeking enforcement outcomes to early contraventions that may be identified.
