The South Burnett Regional Council received more than 283 applications for the eight traineeships it had available this year.<\/p>\n

Mayor Keith Campbell congratulated the successful trainees on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

He said the Council applied for funding last year to employ the trainees under the State Government’s First Start Program.<\/p>\n

This focuses on developing skills and providing help for people who need support to enter and stay in the workforce.<\/p>\n

The Council partnered with South Burnett CTC, the Local Government Association of Queensland and the State Government to fund, recruit and select the trainees.<\/p>\n

Mayor Campbell praised everyone involved. <\/strong><\/p>\n

“I was particularly impressed with South Burnett CTC\u2019s selection process in screening the 283 applications and the seemingly endless interviews,” he said.<\/p>\n

“They presented Council with a pool of applicants who could then be further interviewed to determine the successful applicants.”<\/p>\n

Training for the recruits will be supervised by TAFE Queensland and MEGT Australia to ensure they meet the requirements of their traineeships.<\/p>\n

The trainees will have roles in water treatment, construction, administration, civil construction, warehousing or horticulture.<\/p>\n

The trainees will complete a Certificate in their relevant field during the next year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
