Yarraman and Cooyar residents have been reminded that support is available for community groups in the Toowoomba region through the Community Drought Support grant program.<\/p>\n

Funding for eligible groups has been provided by the State Government\u2019s Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability in an arrangement with Toowoomba Regional Council.<\/p>\n

Toowoomba Mayor Paul Antonio said applications must be lodged with the TRC by May 13.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mayor Antonio said Community Drought Support grants up to $5000 were available for eligible community organisations or groups that were interested in using funds to support various activities promoting well-being or addressing a genuine need in an area.<\/p>\n

\u201cCommunity groups looking for a financial windfall should review the selection criteria to see how they could enhance social networks, manage an event or support services in their community,\u201d Mayor Antonio said.<\/p>\n

\u201cMaintaining family and social connections and interaction is important at all times, but especially so when natural conditions beyond people\u2019s control push enterprises and communities to the limit.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese funds are available for groups to improve access to support services, build links between community organisations and strengthen the resilience of areas battling the drought.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a great opportunity to offer a benefit to people who could use additional assistance.<\/p>\n

\u201cApplicants are encouraged to contact Council on 13-18-72 to speak with relevant officers about tailoring their application to the selection criteria.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Successful applicants are required to spend funds by the end of the year.<\/p>\n

Applications will be reviewed by a panel including Councillors and Council staff. Part funding could be awarded in some instances.<\/p>\n
