An ambulance responding to a medical emergency was struck by a car and pushed into a set of traffic lights in Kingaroy on Monday afternoon.<\/p>\n

A Kingaroy QAS spokesman said the ambulance was on a “Code 1” call, with lights flashing and siren sounding, when it attempted to cross the Youngman and Haly Street intersection.<\/p>\n

As it crossed Haly Street, it was clipped near the rear wheels by a small Holden sedan travelling west,<\/p>\n

The ambulance spun into the traffic lights which are mounted on the traffic island in Youngman Street.<\/p>\n

The QAS spokesman said another ambulance was immediately despatched to the original call, while a third was sent to the site of the collision.<\/p>\n

The female driver of the car was taken to Kingaroy Hospital with minor cuts and abrasions.<\/p>\n

The two paramedics in the ambulance were not hurt.<\/p>\n

Both vehicles required towing.<\/p>\n

South Burnett Regional Council were called to make the toppled traffic lights safe.<\/p>\n

Police investigations are continuing.<\/p>\n
