“Dr Bec” is enjoying putting her skills to good use at Kingaroy Hospital.<\/p>\n

Rebecca Devereaux joined the hospital\u2019s medical roster a month ago as a senior medical officer.<\/p>\n

She has specialised skills in anaesthetics and obstetrics so her days are rarely the same.<\/p>\n

Her time is spent across the hospital\u2019s ward, emergency department and maternity unit, working under the direction medical superintendent Dr Raymond \u201cRT\u201d Lewandowski.<\/p>\n

\u201cI definitely enjoy the variation in my work,\u201d Dr Devereaux said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m using all of my skills, which is great, and part of the reason why I wanted to come to Kingaroy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dr Devereaux grew up in Brisbane and completed her medical training in North Queensland.<\/p>\n

She has spent time in the Northern Territory working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, and most recently was based in Emerald.<\/p>\n

\u201cDelivering babies in small towns, which are often the mother\u2019s home town, is quite lovely to be a part of,\u201d Dr Devereaux said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe hospital was promoted through the Rural Doctors Association of Queensland.\u00a0 It sounded like a fun, challenging and enjoyable place to work.<\/p>\n

“Also, the learning opportunities the hospital offers are phenomenal.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe skill base of the doctors here is second-to-none.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kingaroy Hospital employs 15 doctors, as well as five doctors who regularly visit the South Burnett to provide specialist services.<\/p>\n
