The Desert Pea will be returning to the South Burnett later this month, this time parking itself at Cherbourg.<\/p>\n

The Federal Government\u2019s colourful Mobile Service Centre truck is designed to help residents access information about government services, including Centrelink and Medicare payments and Child Support.<\/p>\n

The Desert Pea will be at Cherbourg, opposite the Ration Shed, from 9:00am to 3:30pm on Tuesday, April 12.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThe Desert Pea is a truck set up as an office, with custom-built technology that allows people to access Medicare and Centrelink services,” Member for Wide Bay Warren Truss said.<\/p>\n

“It is wheelchair accessible and has a soundproof room to allow staff to undertake free hearing checks.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere will be a social worker from the Department of Human Services on board, as well as a staff member from the Australian Taxation Office who will be available to assist individuals and small business taxpayers with advice and information about tax and superannuation.<\/p>\n
