Round 1 of the 2016 Queensland Rally Championship was raced on eight day and night stages around the Manumbar area on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Unlike the last time the Brisbane Sporting Car Club tried to hold a rally in the South Burnett – at Benarkin last November – this time the weather was perfect for some fast-paced runs on the dusty roads.<\/p>\n

Fastest total time on the day was recorded by Tristan and Andrew Carrigan in a 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer in the P5 Class (4WDs over 2000cc) who finished with 1:15:02.<\/p>\n

2015 QRC champions Ian Menzies and Rob McGowan, in a 1998 Mitsubishi Lancer EVO 6, were too strong in the main QRC 4WD class, finishing .04 second ahead of Nanango driver Rob Bishop and Neill Woolley in a 1999 Evo 6.<\/p>\n

The rally cars will be returning to the South Burnett in September for Round 4 of the Queensland Rally Championship which will be raced at Benarkin on September 24.<\/p>\n
