Danita Potter … new Councillor for Division 3<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Kingaroy resident Danita Potter has been declared as the new Councillor for Division 3.<\/p>\n

Mrs Potter works as a phlebotomist (blood collector) at QML in Kingaroy and is a member of the Kingaroy Lions Club.<\/p>\n

She is also the daughter of former long-serving Kingaroy Shire councillor Marie Shaw.<\/p>\n

Mrs Potter took the seat with 33.95 per cent of the primary vote against rivals Abigail Andersson (22.48 per cent) and Deb Dennien (20.80 per cent).<\/p>\n

Coolabunia farmer Stan Corbett (16.00 per cent) and PCA line manager Ace Bleney (6.77 per cent) followed.<\/p>\n

Mrs Potter said that she supported the Council working to keep the South Burnett Community Hospital open, and while she was opposed to the Road Levy, believed it would need to stay in place “for the time being” until other sources of revenue could be found.<\/p>\n

Mrs Potter’s husband Shane works at Kingaroy Hospital and is a former soldier who completed three overseas tours.<\/p>\n

She has three children aged 19, 20 and 25.<\/p>\n

Mrs Potter is the last South Burnett candidate to be declared, 16 days after the close of polls on Saturday, March 19.<\/p>\n
