A Kumbia man has secured a job as an accountant in Pittsworth after graduating earlier this month from the University of the Sunshine Coast.<\/p>\n

Damien Ryke, 21, earned a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) and is now\u00a0working as a graduate accountant for Hooper Accountants.<\/p>\n

“My studies at USC are proving to be really useful in my job and have helped me to adapt a lot quicker to work than I otherwise would have,\u201d Damien said.<\/p>\n

Having come from a small community, Damien said he chose to study at USC because of its size and because of the lifestyle the Sunshine Coast offered.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe campus was small, which made it easier for me to adjust to university life,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was a real community feel at the university, which meant being able to know who your classmates were. I found the lecturers and tutors were extremely helpful and I made heaps of good friends.\u201d<\/p>\n

Damien, who graduated in 2008 from St Mary\u2019s Catholic College, said he was looking forward to an exciting career in accountancy.<\/p>\n

\u201cI plan to work my way up in the industry and see where it takes me,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
