Arnold Murray will be the next Cherbourg Mayor following Saturday’s Council election.<\/p>\n

Although the results will not be declared until next week, the former Cherbourg councillor cannot now be dislodged from the top spot by outstanding postal votes.<\/p>\n

Cr Murray’s nearest competitor is Cr Christine Stewart, who is 15 votes behind.<\/p>\n

Three of the four Councillor positions are also certain: Elvie Sandow (154 votes), Tom Langton (123 votes) and Alana Purcell (114).<\/p>\n

The fourth position will be decided on postal votes.<\/p>\n

Gordon Wragge, Arthur Georgetown and James Saltner are all tied on 100 votes with Lynette Brown on 99 votes.<\/p>\n

Retiring Cherbourg Mayor Ken Bone has failed in his attempt to be elected as a councillor.<\/p>\n
