The\u00a0rare \u201cReading Bug Egg” found recently at Stanwell’s Meandu Mine was relocated to Nanango State School today so that the hatching process can begin.<\/p>\n

The egg must be read to on a regular basis if it’s going to hatch … a job that the Nanango community has volunteered to do.<\/p>\n

Stanwell workers carefully delivered the egg to Nanango State School to coincide with the school’s huge Under 8s day of fun activities.<\/p>\n

At the school it was greeted by South Burnett mayor Wayne Kratzmann, councillors and Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington.<\/p>\n

While the dignitaries fussed over the egg, the U8s concentrated on having fun on the\u00a0rides, exploring a police paddywagon and \u00a0fire engine, and playing games.<\/p>\n

But the mystery egg quickly drew their attention.<\/p>\n

Tucked away under its own special marquee, children started cuddling the egg and listening spellbound\u00a0to stories read to them by a teacher.<\/p>\n

The Reading Bug Egg will stay at Nanango State School now until \u00a0November 2 when it pays a visit to the Nanango markets.<\/p>\n
