It took 41 years to grow and only seconds to remove … but Murgon businessman Mark Smith’s sacrifice was worth it on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Mark submitted to a razor wielded by Alicia Pidgeon, from Alicia’s Spa and Hairworx, to help raise money as part of the Leukaemia Foundation’s “World’s Greatest Shave”.<\/p>\n

The shave and colour event was organised by radio CROW-FM and was broadcast live on the station.<\/p>\n

Earlier in the day CROW-FM chairman John Box also was “shaved for a cure” by Alicia, losing the hair on his head and on his legs.<\/p>\n

John’s granddaughter Violet is currently being treated for cancer, so John had his head shaved in unity – and raised $800 in the process.<\/p>\n

He agreed to the leg waxing after another $300 was tossed in.<\/p>\n

The final tally for Mark Smith’s effort is still being counted but is expected to be close to the $4000 target that Mark originally set.<\/p>\n

UPDATE April 6:\u00a0 All the dollars are now in and the exact amount raised was $4552.75!<\/strong><\/p>\n
