March 14, 2016<\/strong><\/p>\n

A group of would-be candidates for Toowoomba Council conducted an old-fashioned back-of-a-truck political rally at the Yarraman Markets on Saturday.<\/p>\n

The mini-rally, organised by candidate Peter Pyke, set up in Margaret Street to talk to local voters.<\/p>\n

Also in attendance were candidates Dianne Warr, Murray Choat, Robin Grundon, Garry Humphries, Gerard O’Leary and Neville Stewart, as well as mayoral candidate Jim McEvoy.<\/p>\n

The Toowoomba Regional Council poll is a whole-of-shire election, ie there are no Divisions.<\/p>\n

All voters will be selecting a Mayor and 10 Councillor positions.<\/p>\n

Five candidates \u2013 including current Mayor Paul Antonio \u2013 have nominated for the position of Mayor and 31 candidates have put up their hand for the role of Councillor.<\/p>\n

A polling booth will be open at Yarraman State School on Saturday. Voting is compulsory.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
