The Burnett Bird Keepers Association recently received a $700 boost to help promote its upcoming bird sale – which last year attracted buyers from as far away as Gunnedah and Grafton in NSW, Rockhampton and all over south-east Queensland.<\/p>\n

Club secretary Lynn Scott said the sale was licensed with the Department of Environment and would feature all types of aviary birds.<\/p>\n

Last year there were more than 1300 birds on offer.<\/p>\n

This is the second sale that the club, which is less than two years old, has organised.<\/p>\n

It will be held from 9:00am to 1:00pm on May 14 at the Les Fogg Pavilion at the Nanango Showgrounds.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Lyn said many of the buyers were expected to travel up on the Friday and stay overnight before the sale.<\/p>\n

The club has also began raffling $500 worth of fuel as a fundraiser.<\/p>\n

The Burnett Bird Keepers Association meets monthly on the fourth Wednesday from 7:00pm at the Les Fogg Pavilion.<\/p>\n

When the club started it had just 15 members, but this has now grown to 55 members from all over the South Burnett.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The club tries to organise a guest speaker for every meeting.<\/p>\n

The $700 donation came from Division 1 councillor Barry Green’s discretionary fund.<\/p>\n

“I am delighted to be able to assist a local community group in such a way that it ensures their ongoing success,” Cr Green said.<\/p>\n
