February 26, 2016<\/strong><\/p>\n

Cyclone Marcia washed out last year’s South Burnett Soccer Sevens Carnival so organisers have everything crossed that this weekend’s two-day event in Kingaroy will go ahead smoothly.<\/p>\n

The Soccer Sevens is one of the South Burnett’s largest sporting carnivals and provides a solid boost to the local economy as the players and team managers all stay overnight.<\/p>\n

This year there are 44 teams registered, including 24 men’s teams.<\/p>\n

Clubs will be coming from the Sunshine Coast, Bundaberg, Chinchilla, Roma, Dalby and Toowoomba to play against local sides.<\/p>\n

Matches, which consist of two 10-minute halves, will kick off at 10.00am on Saturday and continue through until about 5:00pm.<\/p>\n

They will be played across five fields at Tom Alford Oval.<\/p>\n

The Carnival will recommence at 8:00am on Sunday and culminate with the Women\u2019s and Over 35s\u2019 Grand Finals at 2:30pm and the Men\u2019s Grand Final at 3:00pm.<\/p>\n

Presentations will be at 3:30pm.<\/p>\n

The Soccer Sevens Carnival has been running for more than 30 years and has become a permanent fixture on the State\u2019s football calendar.<\/p>\n

A canteen, barbecue, bar, coffee van and a First Aid tent will all be running on both Saturday and Sunday.<\/p>\n
